Specialised Dance Programmes

DFA has four Specialised Programmes that are designed to cater for talented, committed students. The programmes offer intensive, focused training in order to raise their level of skill. For the Specialised Programmes cluster that incorporates African Contemporary, Ballet and Contemporary Ballet, students are selected from DFA’s Cape Town Outreach Programme. Their classes are held at our Athlone studios and the students are transported to class and home again in DFA’s busses. ICB Training Programme is run by Ingrid Carlson, who has designed her own classical ballet syllabus. Students from all over Cape Town who wish to join her programme may apply to be auditioned. As part of their training, her students are prepared to take Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) examinations. Her classes are also held at DFA’s Athlone studios and many of her students are drawn from the Athlone community.
